With Spider-Man’s first DLC, The Heist, coming right around the bend, the development team at Insomniac Games has decided to give fans of the PlayStation 4 exclusive a treat while they wait for the expansion to drop. Today, the studio has rolled out a fresh update that officially releases the open world title’s New Game Plus mode and an Ultimate difficulty setting for those who want an increased challenge.
As seen in the tweet below from the prolific Twitter handle, Wario64, not only are Spider-Man fans getting New Game Plus and the Ultimate difficulty, but also there are minor gameplay tweaks, bug and stability fixes, and the Photo Mode is getting several new features as well. For instance, Photo Mode has given players new frames and stickers, has added the ability to rotate layers, and has incorporated a shortcut option that lets one trigger it on the fly.
For those brave enough to tackle both Spider-Man’s New Game Plus mode and Ultimate difficulty setting, Insomniac Games will reward them in kind. The studio has added two new trophies in the latest update, too, and will give players one for beating it in New Game Plus and one for beating the game on Ultimate difficulty.
All things considered, it’s great to see Insomniac Games deliver these fresh additions to Spider-Man, for not only does it give players a reason to dive back into the title’s take on an open world New York City map, but also it serves as a solid content stopgap before the game’s first DLC. So, until The Heist officially goes live toward the beginning of next week, it’s safe to presume plenty of fans will be donning the Spidey spandex once again in order to take on the challenges of New Game Plus and the Ultimate difficulty to hone their skills for the expansion.
Spider-Man is available now for PlayStation 4.
