Insomniac’s Spider-Man features many fan-favorite villains from the popular web-slinging comic book franchise, from Electro to Vulture. With so many confirmed villains already confirmed, some fans are excited to see what other villains are joining the fight. However, despite the ever-growing roster of evil villains to take down, it seems that one iconic villain will not be making an appearance in Spider-Man.

According to Jacinda Chew, Art Director at Insomniac, Venom will not be showing his creepy face in Spider-Man this fall. Venom was one villain that many fans were hoping for in Insomniac’s Spider-Man, however fans will have to wait a bit longer to see Venom hit consoles. Perhaps Venom will be featured in DLC, or Insomniac may save the creepy symbiote for a future installment in the game franchise.

Some fans are relieved that Venom is not making an appearance due to the sheer number of big bads already confirmed for the game. With Spider-Man already facing off against the Sinister Six, plus more unannounced villains, Spider-Man already has his hands full. Adding Venom on top of the pile may be a little too much of a good thing.

Spider-Man was one of the best games of E3 2018, showcasing some spectacular gameplay and giving a showcase of five of the six big bad guys that will serve as the main antagonists of the upcoming game. The trailer showed off Rhino, Electro, Vulture, Scorpion, and Mr. Negative, all participating in the prison break that Spider-Man attempts to thwart. The mix of thrilling cinematics and web-slinging gameplay made it an easy pick as one of the best games from E3 this year.

Spider-Man is shaping up to be another huge hit for Sony and the PS4, especially with such an all-star cast of villains. Even without Venom, there are plenty of bad guys to go around when Spider-Man launches this fall

Spider-Man releases September 7 exclusively for the PS4.
