The official Bandai Namco website does feature some guidance on what players can expect from the game, with a return to the events of the original game, among other things, promised for the latest iteration in the series:

The 3D fighting game has also been built in Unreal Engine 4 and promises updated, state of the art graphics. As well as this, a roster of new and returning characters, revamped gameplay mechanics, and dynamic fighting have all been promised for Soul Calibur 6. The new game is the first to be released in the main series since Soul Calibur 5 in 2012, with the free-to-play Soul Calibur: Lost Swords and the mobile game Soul Calibur: Unbreakable Soul standing as the only spin-off titles to come out since.

Two decades after its first iteration, SoulCalibur VI returns to its roots while bringing brand-new gameplay features to the fight. Travel through the signature 16th Century stages and experience the struggle for the two legendary swords using a complete roster of returning iconic SoulCalibur characters, along with some newcomers!

Soul Calibur 6 is set to release in 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
