The next chapter of the ongoing console wars saga is about to kick off. With the likes of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One not set to hit store shelves until later this year, there’s still plenty of time for gamers to weigh their options and decide which platform they’ll invest in. When it comes down to it, though, it’s the software that’ll act as the biggest motivator for purchase, and apparently Sony has plenty of unannounced titles still left to be unveiled.

Jim Ryan, Sony Computer Entertainment’s European CEO, recently had an interview with Gamereactor, and it was during this exchange that he revealed that his company plans on showcasing even more PS4 games during this year’s Gamescom. Ryan didn’t go into detail about what Sony has planned for its Gamescom showing, but confirmed that Sony was holding back on a few game announcements just for the event.

It’s anyone’s guess as to what these games will be, but a safe bet would be LittleBigPlanet 3 — a project rumored to be in development at Sumo Digital. Naughty Dog also has a second studio that’s been hard at work on a project whilst developing The Last of Us, but something along the lines of an Uncharted 4 reveal is a little premature given the recent critical success of the developer’s latest game.

“We very consciously at the [PS4 reveal] event in New York on February 20 showed a lot of software, a lot of first party software. What we did at E3 was really show some updates to those games and introduce The Order 1886.”

“There’s a lot [of games] coming. I’m sure you heard from Shuhei [Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios] that he has, just from his studios, 30 games in development. 20 are going to ship within the first year of the console’s life and of those 12 are new IPs, so there’s a lot going on, it’s just that we need to keep stuff back. We’ve got Gamescom for us Europeans and we need something to show at Gamescom.”

Who knows, maybe even The Last Guardian will finally rear its over-sized head during the big European gaming convention.
