Several months ago, it was revealed that the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie had cast the likes of Jim Carrey to play the role of the Blue Blur’s long-time adversary, Dr. Robotnik, leading many to wonder how the film would portray the villain. While Paramount Pictures has yet to reveal how the star of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and The Truman Show will look while playing the part, one fan has decided to take it upon themselves to create a mock-up poster of what the actor could be like as Eggman.
Thanks to the work of the Instagram user and artist known as William Gray, fans in eager anticipation for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie can get a gander of what Carrey might look like in the movie with Robotnik’s bald head, arm-less eyeglasses, and his pointy red mustache. What’s more is that Gray even used Photoshop to depict the real-life version of Eggman in a red coat reminiscent of the Sonic antagonist’s crimson-hued getup from the games.
While William Gray’s rendition of Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik is decidedly well-done, it must be noted that there’s still no telling exactly how he will be portrayed in the actual Sonic the Hedgehog motion picture. As of now, Paramount hasn’t even offered up an official idea of what Sonic himself will look like, save for a rumored movie poster leak showing the Fastest Thing Alive lounging atop a police cruiser.
All things considered, it will definitely be interesting to see how the forthcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie will handle both Sonic and Robotnik’s on-screen appearances, especially after the fan backlash that ensued following the reveal of Sonic’s anthropomorphic features. Of course, since there’s still a ways to go until Paramount releases the first full trailer for the film, we will simply have to wait and see what the project has in store for its hero and villain.
The Sonic the Hedgehog movie is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on November 9, 2019.
