While the Olympics themselves won’t be taking place this year, everyone’s favorite Blue Blur, Sonic the Hedgehog, has taken it upon himself to participate in various Olympic competitions himself.

That’s right, while the Summer Olympics were delayed due unfortunate circumstances, Sonic and his friends (and enemies) will be competing in their own Olympics. A trailer for the mobile game demonstrates that these Olympics aren’t necessarily your run-of-the-mill games, even if they do take place in the familiar Olympics stadium.

The trailer for Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 can be seen below.

The 53-second video shows a number of Olympic games that Sonic and co. will be competing in. This includes Tokyo Skytree Jump, which has the player bouncing vertically from platform to platform. Additionally, there is trivia game Quiz Challenge, beat ’em up-like Egg Pawn Rush, claw machine-esque Claw Game, and memory-based Souvenir Search and Number Lock.

All in all, the game looks to be an entertaining diversion now that we await the Summer Olympics to take place in 2021. Traditionally, Sonic has competed alongside Mario and his fellow Mushroom Kingdom residents, but this mobile outing limits players to characters seen in the Sonic games.

Sonic at the Olympic Games: Tokyo 2020 will release May 7, 2020 on iOS and Android devices. Players can start pre-registration now.
