It appears that Android and iOS users are currently able to download Sonic at the Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020 right now for the mobile platform, but not everyone is able to play the game depending on their region. Some users will be informed that they cannot play right at this moment, and others will see an Error Code 20309 instead.
While this is a common issue that affects the world-wide rollout of games, users are still bombarding both platforms with 1-star reviews for not being able to play despite the release dates indicating that the formal launch has not yet arrived in each region. We hope these will be changed once players are able to dive into the action, which should be in the next day or so as all time zones pass the launch window of May 7.
As described since its initial announcement, Sonic at the Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020 is a free-to-play title that will feature in-app purchases. The wait should be short, as there are only a few hours left in most regions before the game goes live, and players will be able to participate in the following:
- 100m 400m Hurdles Javelin Throw Archery Karate Diving Shooting Sport Climbing Fencing Trampoline Hammer Throw Table Tennis Long Jump BMX Badminton
