Snowrunner’s early success isn’t slowing down Mad Dog Games. After surpassing one million active users in just over a month, the creators of the wildly popular off-road trucking simulator are releasing a free “Rift” update that introduces new maps, contracts, and upgrades to the game.

As described in a video promo released by Focus Home and Saber Interactive, “Rift” is a brand new map within the Taymr region. “Rift is a rocky canyon map with old mining villages and dangerous cliffs. With new contracts to complete and upgrades to discover, this garageless map will keep even the toughest drivers on their toes.” Watch the full launch video below.

Released via Epic Games at the end of April, SnowRunner is a product of Mad Dog Games and immediately received praise upon release for stunning graphics and challenging but rewarding gameplay. Additionally, SnowRunner touts availability on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, which has allowed the game to draw a huge following in a short amount of time.

Mad Dog Games, however, are handling SnowRunner’s success with little if any growing pains and are doing everything in their power to keep their user base happy and growing. The developers plan to remain active when it comes to offering new updates and taking feedback from the community. As mentioned in the announcement of the “Rift” update, the studio is extremely excited to release the “first of many post-launch updates.”

Along with a new map, SnowRunner’s first update in season one includes a spate of other features and bug fixes. Announced on June 11th, the game will now have “multiple slave slots, region transitions in multiplayer modes, force feedback for a number of different wheel peripherals, and working mirrors on consoles.”

The response from players has been mostly positive since the update’s release. The majority of players are happy to see the studio taking feedback seriously and wish to see continued bug fixes and updates moving forward. “This game has made my channel grow rapidly. Great game, just keep on fixing bugs for your community,” said one player. Others, however, have noticed an issue with the graphics on PS4 after downloading the update. “Are you guys going to acknowledge how broken the PS4 version is since the update?” another user protested.

So far, the makers of SnowRunner haven’t commented on the graphics issue on PS4, but a patch is likely already in the works. As long as future updates add more than they subtract, SnowRunner is a game that should stick around for a while.
