In case you decided to spend your Monday under a rock (valid move, honestly), you probably saw that Nintendo announced the next DLC Smash Bros. fighter. It’s Min Min, the “Ramen Bomber” of ARMS fame. Min Min packs her stretchy noodle arm, a dragon cannon, and the ability to switch hand weapons. She also comes with some friends in the form of new Mii costumes. One of these costumes seems a little out of place until you consider one little detail.

As you can see in the trailer, there are five new Mii Fighter costumes. Ninjara makes sense, being another ARMS character. Callie and Marie represent Splatoon, another Nintendo franchise. Heihachi from Tekken is less obvious until you consider Tekken owner Bandai Namco also helps with Smash Bros. development. That leaves Vault Boy, mascot of the Fallout franchise. How random is that?

Perhaps not so random, when you take in account Min Min’s place in the Smash Bros. roster. To be precise, she’s the 76th fighter in the game.

76 also happens to be an important number in the Fallout franchise – as in Fallout 76, the bad-then-kind-of-good-and-now-pretty-good latest game in the series. Coincidence? Possibly? Subtle ploy by Todd Howard to get Nintendo fans to buy an eventual Switch port of Fallout 76? Probably not, but anything is possible. Crash Bandicoot is getting a new game, after all.
