Slash Quest is a new indie Apple Arcade-exclusive adventure that switches the classic sword-wielding hero journey on its head. This time, it’s the sword who is wielding the hero. In fact, it’s the sword itself who becomes the hero of this little story.

Slash Quest was created and published on itch.io a few years ago with the intention of launching on mobile devices, and now you can expect the game to land on an iOS device near you sometime this Fall.

Play through the story of Swordie - a talking sentient sword - and their adopted wielder Shep the big-hearted shepherd, as they run and swing their way through a magical but treacherous land on a mighty quest to save the Queen and her Queendom. The especially fun part being that Shep has very poor sword-wielding abilities which you’ll have to contend with.

Swordie also grows larger as you play through the game, so poor Shep must drag and hurtle this thing around in hopes of making it through battles and obstacles in one piece. But never fear! Swordie’s abilities and willpower know no bounds. Together with your help, they will slice and dice their way to victory!

Slash Quest promises a decent dose of exploring, battling, puzzle-solving, and heart-warming adventuring. Expect 12 levels - each encouraging unique and innovative teamwork - along with 12 upgradeable skills that will help our pair of unlikely heroes progress through their epic journey, and plenty of additional side content. Keep an eye out for leaderboard-enabled mini-games, as well as hidden rewards in the form of more than 20 cosmetic items that’ll let you customize Swordie and Shep,

The game is the charming brainchild of Canada-based Noodlecake Studios and Brazilian indie studio Big Green Pillow. The latter’s creative director and founder Andre Rodrigues explained that Slash Quest is the combination of two of their favorite things: “walking a dog and medieval weaponry. What could go wrong?”

Slash Quest will be launching on Apple Arcade later this Fall, and will be playable on iOS, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS.

Slash Quest takes the old adage of ’live by the sword’ to its most comical extreme as Swordie thrusts you into all manner of ridonculous situations, using their sheer bravery and sharp edges to cut right to the point.
