WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game will allow the most exciting match of the year to unfold like never before right on fans’ tabletops.
Professional wrestling and video games have enjoyed plenty of crossover over the course of the past 30 years or so. Whether it be in arcades, on consoles, or more recently, via streaming. The likes of Xavier Woods, Asuka, and many more have taken to streaming their gaming exploits during their free time and have unsurprisingly enjoyed a lot of success.
Although there are examples out there, there hasn’t been nearly as much crossover between the wrestling world and the board game world. There have been trading cards in the past, but nothing on a level that has taken off to a great extent. The most successful example might well be WWE Supercard, which has now all-but transitioned to an app.
It might not change the game, but the release of WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game is certainly something worth the attention of any wrestling fans who want their gaming to become more analog. As the title implies, the game allows players to assume the role of any number of WWE legends. Some of those legends include Goldberg, Randy Savage, and the recently retired Undertaker.
As is the case with a real Royal Rumble match, the aim of the game is to eliminate everyone else from the ring, or in this instance, the game . Each player starts by picking a wrestler and then uses various actions and moves via other randomly selected cards in an attempt to eliminate other players. A successful elimination earns that player the Titleholder token. They then hold that token until another player eliminates a wrestler.
Once eliminated, a player can then select another wrestler to enter the fray. This continues until only one man, or card, is left standing. There are 30 cards in total so again, as is the case in a real Royal Rumble match, there will be a total of 30 competitors. Game creators Ravensburger recommend using no more than ten players, but we don’t see why 30 people couldn’t pick a card each and let chaos reign. Let us know how that goes should you pick up WWE Legends Royal Rumble Card Game when it’s released on July 26, 2020.
