Limitless inventory space is a staple of The Legend of Zelda, but it’s something Skyward Sword actually turns its back on. Instead of letting Link carry whatever items he finds on his journey, you need to micromanage your Adventure Pouches – special item slots for specific equipment like Shields, Bottles, and Medals that buff your stats.

Your first Adventure Pouch is obtained as part of the story before Link begins his adventure in earnest. To get the remaining four slots, you’ll need to find the four extra Adventure Pouches in-game. Fortunately, Skyward Sword’s extra Adventure Pouches are easy to track down. If you have enough Rupees, that is.

Goddess Cube Adventure Pouch

Unlike the first Adventure Pouch which gives you four item slots right out of the gate, each extra Adventure Pouch only unlocks a single slot. While this might seem disappointing, unlocking a single slot goes a long way in Skyward Sword – if only for how useful Medals and all the different Potions are.

The first Adventure Pouch is triggered as part of the main story during the Goddess Cube tutorial with Gorko the Goron. Once the Goddess Cube is activated, head back to the Sky and fly over to Pumpkin Landing. The Goddess Cube will have activated a Goddess Chest for you. Open it to find your first Adventure Pouch inside. From here, go back into Deep Woods and keep playing until you unlock the Slingshot.

Beedle Adventure Pouches

The remaining three Adventure Pouches in Skyward Sword are triggered for unlock as soon as you obtain the Slingshot in Deep Woods. Unfortunately, they cost quite a pretty penny so you’ll need to do a fair bit of grinding. The three Adventure Pouches will be available for purchase at Beedle’s Floating Shop the next time you return to Skyloft.

Each Adventure Pouch is purchased in a successive order, with the next always more expensive than the last. Beedle’s first Adventure Pouch costs 300 Rupees. The next time you come back to the store, Beedle will be selling a second Adventure Pouch for 600 Rupees. The last Adventure Pouch costs 1,200 Rupees, demanding a total of 2100 Rupees to unlock every single item slot in the game.
