In a Vlog uploaded earlier this month, Shirley Curry AKA Skyrim Grandma announced that she will be scaling back her upload schedule for the sake of her health.
“I know I shouldn’t let these things stress me out but they do” begins Shirley, the 82-year-old content creator and famous Skyrim player has had enough of the mean spirited and condescending comments left on her videos. In an effort to lower her stress level, Shirley will be changing her upload schedule.
In the vlog, Shirley explains that her comment section is filled with people reminding her about the basic mechanics of Skyrim, a game she has been playing on Youtube since September 2015. Despite her expertise in the game, Shirley has to sift through hundreds of comments on each video from people that feel the need to explain to her how to play the game.
Shirley goes on to say “I’m not enjoying recording anymore at all. It’s no longer fun. I feel like I’m under a microscope all the time.” She says she has more fun playing by herself and she doesn’t enjoy the pressure on her and the nitpicking in her comments.
In her 5 years on Youtube, Shirley has gathered over 800k subscribers and uploaded hundreds of Skyrim videos. Shirley says she doesn’t care how big her audience is, she just plays for fun, and if it isn’t fun, she sees no reason to do it.
Shirley’s new schedule will be Saturdays, Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Since uploading the vlog 3 weeks ago, Shirley hasn’t uploaded any videos.
