Sky Haven Temple is one of the most fascinating locations in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim because it has a ton of interesting history, and it is the location of Alduin’s Wall. Sky Haven Temple is also the headquarters of The Blades during the main questline. There is a fair bit of loot to be obtained from Sky Haven Temple if looking in the right place.
Sky Haven Temple is more expansive than a lot of players initially realize, and there is also a lot of trivia that may surprise even the most seasoned adventurers, since it is easy to overlook some of the corners of the temple while exploring it during the main questline.
10 Music Only Plays In The Outer Courtyard Of The Temple
Music isn’t very abundant in Sky Haven Temple; this is most likely because of how many important scenes with dialogue take place within this location.
The only place that the Dragonborn will hear music playing is in the outer courtyard, which isn’t even technically within Sky Haven Temple itself but is instead outside of the location. As soon as the Dragonborn leaves Sky Haven Temple, they will start to hear music play again.
9 Dragons Can Attack Sky Haven Temple
Similar to towns and cities within Skyrim, players can be attacked by dragons if they are standing in the outer courtyard of Sky Haven Temple. This is especially interesting for this location, since it is the headquarters of The Blades and this organization wants to defeat all of the dragons.
It is possible that dragons are coming to Sky Haven Temple to attempt to defeat the Dragonborn so that they cannot send the dragon species back to the grave. However, it is also possible that dragons attack the temple for no other reason than it being an outside location.
8 The Bookshelves Inside Contain Many Books About The Blades And Dragons
There are many bookshelves in Sky Haven Temple that are very easy to overlook since most bookshelves are filled with books that have no relevance to the plot.
However, the bookshelves in Sky Haven Temple that are located near Alduin’s Wall are actually quite interesting since they detail the history of The Blades, as well as dragons. Both of these topics are relevant to the main story, which is why it is advisable to give them a read to help learn more about the dragon menace.
7 It Has An Invisible Barrier If The Player Tries To Climb Up The Side Of It
There is an invisible barrier along the mountainside of Sky Haven Temple to keep the Dragonborn from adventuring to it prior to discovering it during the main quest. This barrier was most likely put in place so that no glitches would occur by discovering the temple earlier than the developers intended.
This was unfortunately frustrating for some players that attempted to travel to Sky Haven Temple early so that they could obtain powerful items from this location, such as Blades armor.
6 There Are Many Similarities Between Sky Haven Temple And Cloud Ruler Temple
The headquarters of The Blades in Cyrodiil, Cloud Ruler Temple, is very similar to Sky Haven Temple in terms of its layout. Both temples have a similar courtyard and are located on somewhat similar terrains.
On top of this, both of these two locations are considered temples and are also the headquarters of The Blades for their respective regions and time periods. It is interesting that Bethesda would design these two locations to have a similar feel to them, although they don’t look exactly the same in terms of furniture and decorations.
5 Sky Haven Temple Was Built Around An Akavari Military Camp
Sky Haven Temple was built around one of the first Akavari military camps that were built in Skyrim. This is fascinating to learn since Sky Haven Temple is located atop a mountain, which would be a perfect spot for a military camp, since it would be hard to get to.
The spot chosen for Sky Haven Temple’s construction ended up being a good spot for scaring away thieves since it is challenging for any human enemies to travel to; however, it is unfortunately quite easy for a dragon to attack it.
4 Three Followers Can Be Recruited For The Blades, And They Will Live At Sky Haven Temple
Delphine and Esbern allow the player to recruit three followers into their organization once the Dragonborn has slain Paarthurnax and pledged their allegiance to The Blades.
After these three companions have been recruited into The Blades, they will then reside at Sky Haven Temple full-time when they are not slaying dragons alongside the other members of The Blades. Since so many players decide not to kill Paarthurnax during the main questline, it is easy to miss the possibility of recruiting followers into the dragon-slaying organization.
3 Alduin’s Wall Predicts Both The Skyrim Civil War And The Oblivion Crisis
Alduin’s Wall predicts more than just the dragons coming back to life. It also predicts the Civil War of Skyrim and even the Oblivion Crisis, among other important events in Tamriel. Both of these events are major, and the fact that they are both predicted on the wall proves that the wall itself truly has merit outside of simply predicting a single event.
This fact isn’t very well known since most players aren’t focused on studying the wall when they first enter Sky Haven Temple, and these two events don’t have any relevance to slaying Alduin.
2 There Are Practice Dummies In The Outer Courtyard
There are practice dummies located in the outer courtyard of Sky Haven Temple for recruits that want to train; however, the Dragonborn can also use these dummies if they want to improve their archery or spellcasting skills.
The outer courtyard of Sky Haven Temple isn’t very relevant to the plot, so it isn’t surprising that the practice dummies are easily missed while exploring the area. Despite this, Sky Haven Temple is actually one of the best places in all of Skyrim for the Dragonborn to practice for an archery build, since enemies seldom attack it.
1 The Temple Houses A Unique Sword
There are many different items that can be obtained in Sky Haven Temple. However, the most powerful of these items is the unique sword, Dragonbane. It can be found in the armory of the temple.
What makes this weapon so powerful is that it has a special enchantment that allows it to deal extra damage toward dragons, which is an incredibly strong enchantment for adventurers that face many dragons throughout Skyrim. This sword is one of a kind, and every Dragonborn needs to add it to their collection, especially since it is so easily obtainable.
