Tabletop board games have become notoriously pricey in recent years. Luckily, for those with a passion for tabletop, Skybound is currently hosting a 50% off sale for nearly every board game that it carries. If you’re gaming on a budget, now is the time to check out the sale: some of the price cuts are truly massive, and there may be other items that catch your interest.
The ongoing sale is part of their efforts to promote last weekend’s “Skybound Xpo,” which can be found in its entirety on their YouTube channel. They announced several new board games at the expo - those being some of the select few items excluded from this sale - and hosted panels with creators of board games, comics, and more as part of the online event. Even without all the excellent new content on the horizon to look forward to, the sale is reason all by itself to get excited.
One of the games on sale is the fairy-tale themed The Grimm Forest, an almost monopoly-like board game in which players must gather resources to build the sturdiest houses while tripping up their competitors with monsters of old… or receiving aid from heroes of legend. The complex resource-economy game normally runs with a steep price of $50, but can be purchased now for only $25.
If you prefer games for more than 4 people, you’ll also be able to get the full “classic bundles” containing the base game and five expansion decks for both Pitchstorm and Superfight at half their usual price of $110. You can pick up the party games for $55 - or less than $10 per extra pack when you take the base game into account. Considering that the base deck consists of 500 cards and each expansion is a hundred new ones, it’s safe to say you’re getting your money’s worth if you’re a fan of hectic, card-based comedy games to play with your friends.
Oh, and if you’re not going to be getting together to play Superfight in person anytime soon, that doesn’t you can’t play it - a digital version of the base game only runs $10 dollars on Skybound, and the expansions are likewise cheap to grab at $5 a pop. The digital versions aren’t on sale - but for that cheap, do they need to be? If you’re a fan of board games, Skybound’s website will have something for you, and right now, they’ll have it cheaper than ever before.
