If you’re following local guidelines and staying home for your safety, but you’re usually an avid skater, your time is coming pretty soon. Skater XL, the first modern skateboarding game on all major platforms in the past decade, is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 7th 2020. And you can still stay home at that time, as the game will be available in both digital and physical form.

The game is pretty straightforward: you play as one of four skating icons – Tiago Lemos, Evan Smith, Tom Asta or Brandon Westgate – to become the very best, through iconic Californian locations, customizing your character with unique characteristics and gear from top skateboarding brands like New Balance, Vans, Santa Cruz Skateboards, SOVRN, and many others.

The aforementioned iconic California locations are also something worth checking out: made of more than 60 real skate spots “where streets legends have left their mark,” as the team puts it, along with a huge modding community that adds new maps, tournaments, and in-game brands, the game will have loads of content for aficionados.

Maybe best of all, you’ll have complete freedom in what you’re doing – from skating free form, just to pass the time, to performing a number of tricks that will have you aching to get outside and try it in real life as well.
