Skater XL, the indie developed open-world skateboarding title, has suffered a small delay from its original July 7, 2020, release date. In a post on the Steam community forums, developer Easy Day Studios wrote, “Despite our best efforts, and due in part to things out of our control, we will be moving the launch of Skater XL 1.0 on Steam, as well as the physical and digital launch on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, to July 28th.”
This is likely a delay brought on by the work-from-home restrictions caused by the coronavirus. With practically every studio being hit with some kind of interference, it makes sense that Skater XL would fall prey to a similar situation. Postponing the launch for three weeks is hardly the end of the world, so fans will likely understand the decision here.
As for the Switch port, Easy Day isn’t yet committing to a date. It seems more work needs to be done to bring that version up to speed. That happens with a lot of Switch conversions, so I’m not surprised to hear the news. With Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 not coming to the platform, Nintendo fans will just need to be patient to get their skating fix.
