The free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone has had massive success, racking up six million users in the first 24 hours and 30 million less than two weeks after its release. Since Call of Duty: Warzone is a battle royale game, many compare it to the other powerhouse games in the genre, like Fortnite and Apex Legends. The critique of Warzone ranges from team size, game mechanics, respawn systems, and mobility.
While most players are perfectly happy playing a free Call of Duty game, popular streamers have high expectations for most games they play, and many won’t be shy about commenting on the quality. Popular Mixer streamer, Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek has recently made comments about an aspect of Call of Duty: Warzone.
After a few days of playing Warzone, Shroud has commented on many issues with the game, including having a short time to kill, which he believes is impossible to balance. Many of Shroud’s complaints are that Warzone shares too many of the same mechanics as Call of Duty. However, his most recent issue with the game is a fairly new mechanic for Call of Duty.
Vehicles are available in Warzone and many have considered them overpowered. Shroud commented on them saying, “It feels exactly like H1Z1 solos… you drive around in a car and you get out when you think the time is right and blast the person, or you run them over.” Shroud says this as he is playing Warzone solos and applying the same strategy as he gets a win.
Mere seconds after getting a win, Shroud comments on possible changes to the game, “They should turn off vehicles or something. I think they should turn off vehicles in general.” There are currently five different types of vehicles in the game, each with different speeds, armor, and seats available. Shroud believes that the vehicles are too hard to blow up, making them too overpowered for getting around the map.
Vehicles are not the only mechanic that Shroud has complaints about. He has also commented on the cross-play function, which allows console players and PC players to all play together. He believes console players have an advantage because of an aim-assist setting in the game. Shroud has a lot of influence in the gaming community and it will be interesting to see if Call of Duty: Warzone adopts his recommendations for the game.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
