Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster is an HD remake of a game that was originally released for the PlayStation 2. Nocturne is set during the end of the world when demons and monsters return and the planet is turned inside out. The main character is a human teenager who is granted the power of the demons, becoming the Demi-Fiend. It’s up to the Demi-Fiend to choose the fate of this new world.
The number one pre-ordered game from July 19 to July 25 was the Limited Edition version of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster on PlayStation 4. The 4th place game is the Limited Edition Nocturne for Switch, the 7th place game is the base version of Nocturne HD on PS4, the 8th place game is the base version of Nocturne HD on Switch, while the 9th & 10th place games are versions of Nocturne HD for PS4 and Switch that come with limited edition items.
The Shin Megami Tensei series has found mainstream success, as the Persona games gave a boost to the franchise that they spun-off from. The problem with enjoying many Atlus games is that they’re locked to older systems, but that is starting to change. This year, puzzle game Catherine received a modern update, while RPG Persona 4 Golden arrived on Steam for PC. And now, Nocturne is coming to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4. If Nocturne is a hit on modern systems, then we might see more Shin Megami Tensei games being ported in the future.
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster will be released for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Spring 2021.
