There’s an Animal Crossing talk show called Animal Talking that’s become such a success recently that some big stars are starting to climb on board too, the most recent being musical giants Sting and Shaggy.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the most recent installment in Nintendo’s hugely successful Animal Crossing series released on March 20th this year and - somewhat unsurprisingly - it’s since proven to be hugely successful. Everyone seems to want to get in on the charming farming simulator action, and apparently that includes really famous musicians.
Reggae artist Shaggy and The Police lead singer Sting are reportedly due to debut new music during the talk show hosted entirely within the virtual boundaries New Horizons’ island paradise-y cyberscape. Shaggy will be appearing on Animal Talking on June 1st, while Sting will take center stage on June 8th, kicking off the show’s second season with a bang.
This comes from an announcement made by Animal Talking’s host Gary Whitta and its Executive Producer (and wife of Gary) Leah Whitta on Twitter a few days ago. “I swear we’re not making this up,” Leah says.
Animal Talking has become a full-scale effort, having already aired a hugely successful first season featuring the likes of T-Pain, Elijah Wood, and Danny Trejo. The show takes place on Gary’s own island in New Horizons, in a cozy little room perfectly kitted out to look like your typical late-night live talk show studio. With the added benefit of the whole no-coronavirus-risk thing.
“We have this amazing ability to bring people together from all over the world and put them in a virtual space,” Gary said. “We’re literally the only people right now that have a late night talk show that actually looks like a late night talk show … not even Jimmy Fallon can do that right now, because he lives in the real world and I don’t. I live in an online world where we can do anything.”
You’ll be able to catch the show live via Twitch, and on YouTube at a later date.
