Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is getting an unofficial mod that will support a player versus player component of the game.

While still undergoing development and ironing out any bugs, crashes, and glitches, the multiplayer mod is being posted on YouTuber LukeYui’s channel. There, people can get an initial idea of how the mod works, what the other player’s model looks like, animations, attacks, and a lot more. Of course, as time moves on, so will the mod and its stability with the game, which means that players will be able to fight one another at one point in the future.

When Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice came out, it was revealed that the game did not have any online aspects to it. Unlike developer FromSoftware’s other games, Dark Souls and Bloodborne, Sekiro did not have the ability to invade other players’ game worlds and either co-op with them or fight them. Nonetheless, the removal of online did not stop the game from achieving multiple accomplishments and praise, including winning The Game Award’s Game of the Year 2019.

In fairness, however, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice plays very differently from other From Software games. Although the exploration and RPG aspects are present in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, the game’s flow, combat, and playstyle greatly differ from those of Dark Souls. In return, the game feels very different, with more punishable deaths and brutal combat that tests its players.

With the multiplayer mod, the gap between the game and online will be bridged and players will be able to fight one another in the future. It will be interesting to see how the mod will allow players to utilize their skills and prosthetic arm upgrades in combat against other players. Additionally, with the game not having any extra weapons or armor that players can equip, the mod will further test the game’s parry aspect as well as dodge mechanic.

As previously stated, the mod is still going through development and will most likely be updated via videos on LukeYui’s channel.
