Sega is going to announce something next Friday for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix/Mega 39s, and we have no idea what it might be.

But it’s probably going to be a new DLC pack. Just saying.

Way back in the before times of 2009, Crypton Future Media was hard at work making what would become Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA. Initially just a Vocaloid song bank, the developer wisely chose to partner with Sony to get their songs out into a rhythm game for the PSP and also to anthropomorphize that bank as a teenage girl with turquoise pigtails (the eponymous Hatsune Miku).

Thus, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA was born. It has since gone on to become a stable of the rhythm genre for every generation since the PS3 and for handheld devices like the 3DS and PS Vita. The latest game, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix/Mega 39s, just released for the Nintendo Switch last month. Bella gave it a 3.5 out of 5 in her review, praising the game’s classic rhythm mechanics but criticizing its day 1 $20 DLC and lack of “innovations for long-time fans.”

Mega Mix/Mega 39s is a fine game for newcomers, but longtime fans might be better served sticking with the PS4’s Future Tone.

But if you’re big into Mega Mix/Mega 39s, then you might want to pay attention to Sega’s YouTube stream on June 17.

Sega announced a special livestream some sort of news for Mega Mix/Mega 39s. They didn’t say what it is, but we can’t imagine it being anything but some new DLC to peddle on the Nintendo storefront. We’ll find out just what it is next Friday at 8 PM JST, which is 7 AM EST.

Tune back here in four days and we can find out what Sega is hiding together.
