There are a few things you should know about this character, as he plays a major role in the development of the story. He is not good by any means and learning more about him will give you insight into his actions.

He sees the world as a place full of weakness and he seeks to rectify it with his abilities as a ship captain. You should be prepared with all the information before encountering Captain Flameheart on the water in the Sea of Thieves.

10 He Has Two Other Aliases

Captain Flameheart also goes by two other names which include King Flameheart and Captain Flameheart Senior. There is also a Captain Flameheart Junior, who happens to be his adopted son, but only Captain Flameheart Senior is depicted in the game.

The son may make an appearance in time, although for now, it is just the one.

9 He Is An Ashen Skeleton Lord

This character happens to be an Ashen Skeleton Lord, which means he is a cursed individual. He is in command of other Skeletons, but he is not the only Skeleton Lord in the Sea of Thieves.

There are other Ashen Lords in Sea of Thieves, as well as Skeleton Lords who can be found at Skeleton Forts and encountered while completing Tall Tales. The Revenge of the Morningstar is one of these Tall Tales where you will encounter this opponent.

8 Players Have Known Of His Existence Before The Release Of The Game

Sea of Thieves was officially released in 2018, but Captain Flameheart has been a member of the franchise since 2016. He was seen during the E3 2016 Cinematic Trailer where he stands in a doorway with his sword raised high as he commands other Skeletons to do his bidding.

Others have also pointed out that his statue has made appearances at events where Rare Ltd. was in attendance.

7 He Was The Captain Of The Burning Blade

Every Skeleton Lord was human at one time before their transformation, and Captain Flameheart is no different. He was the ship captain of a vessel called the Burning Blade, and it was the flagship of his fleet.

You will encounter a ghostly version of this ship during the Ghost Fleet World Event and it will appear during the fourth and final wave of the event. You can also unlock the Burning Sails cosmetic for your ship by defeating it ten times.

6 He Wants To See The Sea Of Thieves Destroyed

Captain Flameheart wants to wipe the Sea of Thieves from existence by raising a Skeleton army. He is constantly trying to destroy those who sail these seas during the Ghost Fleet World Event.

Beware anytime you see his giant red skull in the sky as he is willing to do anything in his power to sink your boat.

5 Captain Flameheart Was Cursed

No one really knows why Captain Flameheart became a Skeleton Lord, but it is understood that some time passed before he was cursed. Many have wondered if Captain Graymarrow is responsible for this transformation due to his proficiency in this particular curse.

Captain Flameheart was transported aboard the Ashen Dragon to his final resting place until Sir Arthur Pendragon accidentally released him from his tomb with the Sword of Souls.

4 His Lair Is Called The Heart Of Fire

After he was released, Captain Flameheart went to his lair called The Heart of Fire, which is fitting based on his name. It is located beneath Devil’s Thirst, an island surrounded by rocks that also contains a volcano.

3 The Reaper’s Bones Is Connected To Captain Flameheart

The Reaper’s Bones is one of the Trading Companies that you can work for as an emissary, but some players believe Captain Flameheart had a hand in its creation. The leader of this group, called The Servant of the Flame, has ideals directly related to those of this character.

They want to see the Sea of Thieves burn, not to mention the decor used in their hideout hints at this Ashen Skeleton Lord’s involvement.

2 He Summoned Ghost Ships From The Sea Of The Damned

Captain Flameheart wanted to further his agenda by assembling an armada to do his bidding on the seas. He called in Ghosts Ships from the Sea of the Damned, which is the place where pirates go after they meet their end.

It is also the place where the Ferry of the Damned can be found.

1 Four Ashen Lords Are Under His Command

There are other Ashen Skeleton Lords in the Sea of Thieves, but they are nowhere near as powerful as Captain Flameheart. They are loyal to him and there are four in all, each with their own special interests and abilities.

The names of these Ashen Lords are Captain Grimm, Red Ruth, Old Horatio, and Warden Chi who can spawn randomly across the map in Sea of Thieves.
