Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game was a critical hit when it landed in 2010 alongside the cult film from director Edgar Wright. Now, Ubisoft is remastering the game for its 10th anniversary.

UPDATE: Shortly after Ubisoft Forward, Kotaku spoke to Scott Pilgrim creator Bryan Lee O’Malley. According to an email, O’Malley had some kind of “communication breakdown” between Ubisoft, Universal, and himself. This resulted in him being unaware of this rerelease, and he claims that “None of the original creators are working on the rerelease.”

The rumors about Scott Pilgrim making an appearance at Ubisoft Forward were true: the game is indeed getting remastered. Like Scott Pilgrim vs The World the movie, the game wasn’t a smash hit financially when it first came out, but did have its devoted fans. The side-scrolling beat-em-up owed a great deal to classic games of its genre, like Final Fight, but also evolved some of the genre’s tropes and concepts. You took on the role of Scott Pilgrim himself or one of his friends and battled your way through hordes of baddies to defeat Ramona Flowers’ seven evil exes in up to four-player co-op.
