With the uneasiness surrounding the state of the world due to COVID-19, San Diego Comic Con has postponed their convention until next year.

As noted on the official SDCC announcement, this is the first time in the convention’s 50 year history that it’ll have to be delayed. They recognized that many exhibitors, artists and the like depend on SDCC to support their livelihood and had hoped that things would calm down in the summer. Unfortunately, with the track that things are going on, that does not seem to be the case. Instead, the event will now be held from July 22-25, 2021. Similarly, WonderCon has changed its April date to March 26-28, 2021.

David Glanzer, the spokesperson for the organization said: “Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures and while we are saddened to take this action, we know it is the right decision.” Still, it’s a sad moment for many fans. Luckily, SDCC is giving would-be congoers the option to request a refund or transfer their badges to next year.

Badge holders should receive an email within the next week with instructions on how to get a refund. onPeak, Comic-Con’s hotel affiliate, will also be canceling all hotel reservations and refunding all deposits made through them - the process will be handled automatically.
