Nearly a year after its PS4 debut, Samurai Shodown will be slashing on over to PC on June 11, 2020. An Epic Games Store exclusive, publisher SNK will be offering the title at a 10% discount for its launch week. After that, it will return to its regular $49.99 price point.
If you were hoping that the current two seasons of DLC characters would be included, I have some bad news for you. Right from launch, both seasons will be purchasable for $19.99 apiece. They each include four characters, so it isn’t a bad deal, but still a bit of a bummer. You can buy each character separately for $5.99, but I’d advise just grabbing the full season.
It is certainly nice to finally have the game on PC, but there are a lot of factors going against this port. The first is the Epic Games Store exclusivity, which might put off Steam faithful. The second is that cross-play still isn’t a thing for Samurai Shodown, which is kind of baffling.
At the very least, we can expect the PC version to run at true 4K resolution. That should make the wonderful art style look absolutely pristine. There will also be more controller configurations, allowing players to use a keyboard if they so choose. This could be the definitive version of 2019’s best fighter.
