We’re about to find out which fighter is next in line for Samurai Shodown. SNK announced last night that the final character for the second season of its series reboot would be announced at the New Game+ Expo on June 23, 2020. Sharing a silhouette that could honestly be anyone, it seems the final character will be one of the male fighters from the series’ past.
The most likely seems to be Walter from Samurai Shodown Sen. I’m not sure why SNK would want to return to the series’ worst received installment, but then some of the character designs from that game were cool. This could also be a fake-out to distract people from Cham-Cham joining (her paw prints were seen in the original reveal trailer for season two).
For those unaware of what NGPX is, it is an online event dedicated to giving the spotlight to lesser-known developers. Names like SNK and Arc System Works may be big to certain people that follow gaming news, but most of the participants are firmly in the indie category. Think of this as an extension of E3, just with Japanese publishers/developers.
So far, the biggest reveal is this Samurai Shodown character. We’ll learn who it is and probably get a confirmation of a potential third season of content. Why would SNK stop a good thing?
