Hot off the heels of releasing Saints Row IV on the Switch, THQ Nordic has announced it will be remastering Saints Row: The Third for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Why this was chosen instead of the far superior Saints Row 2 I don’t know, but this game will be coming on May 22, 2020, in the form of the “Full Package” edition. That version includes all previously released DLC and was ported to Switch last year.
I’m still a little miffed at Saints Row: The Third for cutting most of the content that made 2 so enjoyable. The absurdist style that most people recognize the series for started here, but the campaign itself is truncated and devoid of real missions. It feels more like a shell for DLC to expand with wacky activities instead of the fairly beefy 2.
Regardless, people enjoy this one and $40 will get you this “new” version on your current generation platforms. If you were hoping for a free upgrade on the PC side of things, know that The Third Remastered will be an Epic Games Store exclusive. That sort of sours the whole ordeal, especially with how THQ Nordic has been generous in the past.
But really, we’re still getting a Saints Row 2 remaster, right? Please!
