Rockstar Games has announced that the original soundtrack for Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available for purchase on July 12th. Two singles are currently available for download with pre-orders, which includes, “Crash of Worlds,” by Rocco DeLuca and, “Table Top,” by Daniel Lanois. Meanwhile, the original score is slated for release later this summer.

The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Soundtrack is a collection of vocal tracks created in collaboration with Lakeshore Records. Rockstar describes the album as a powerful and emotional journey through the last days of America’s outlaw era. The album is produced by 11-time Grammy Award winner Daniel Lanois, with all the music exclusively made for the game. Fans may recognize Lanois’ name as one who has worked with Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Willie Nelson, as well as a collaborator with Brian Eno in the production of albums for U2.

In order to create a broad range of talent along with the album, vocal performances come from a range of award-winning artists including D’Angelo, Willie Nelson, Rhiannon Giddens, Josh Homme, and a bonus track that was written, produced, and performed by David Ferguson. The playlist for the album is as follows:

  • “Unshaken” - D’Angelo “Moonlight” - Daniel Lanois / Daryl Johnson / Joseph Maize / Darryl Hatcher / Rhiannon Giddens “That’s the Way It Is” - Daniel Lanois “Mountain Finale” - Daniel Lanois “Crash of Worlds” - Rocco DeLuca “Cruel World” - Willie Nelson “Red” - Daniel Lanois “Mountain Hymn” - Rhiannon Giddens “Mountain Banjo” - Rhiannon Giddens “Table Top” - Daniel Lanois “Love Come Back” - Daniel Lanois “Oh My Lovely” - Daniel Lanois “Cruel World” - Josh Homme

While fans of the game seem to be excited for the album to release, many were hoping to see the companion album, The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Score, composed by Woody Jackson, to release at the same time.

In the past, Rockstar Games has released similar musical projects for its other popular online game, Grand Theft Auto V, providing an album of the original songs and the original score on separate releases.

As well, Red Dead Redemption, the first game in the series, released a vinyl copy of their soundtrack, which had a limited run and is quite rare today. Note that the listed price of $14.99 was its initial offering, and now runs for far more.

While there is no word yet if a vinyl offering for Red Dead Redemption 2, it would be a fantastic addition for any collector of fan of the game.

The Music of Red Dead Redemption 2: Original Soundtrack will be available July 12th, and can be pre-ordered from the iTunes store. The pre-order bonus songs are available on Spotify right now.
