Comedian Sacha Baron Cohen secretly filmed a sequel to 2006’s Borat this year and has reportedly screened the project for a select few in the industry. Now, a Writers Guild of America listing has revealed the official title of the sequel, suggesting the film could be released sooner than later.

The title Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan was recently submitted to the WGA. According to the listing, which has since been taken down, the writers of the Borat sequel include Baron Cohen, Anthony Hines, Dan Swimer, Peter Baynham, Erica Rivinoja, Dan Mazer, Jena Friedman, and Lee Kern.

Collider’s report on Baron Cohen’s Borat sequel revealed the production took place amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. The film reportedly follows the eponymous fictitious Kazakh journalist going undercover to interview his subjects, a necessity due to the fame he earned after the original mockumentary debuted in theaters. Film Stage reported the sequel will cover topics including the global pandemic and President Donald Trump’s relationship with deceased convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The outlet also noted that Vice-President Mike Pence and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani will make cameo appearances in the film.

Directed by Larry Charles, Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan centered on the title character as he embarked on a journey across America to make a documentary on the country. In addition to conducting unscripted interviews with real-life Americans and offending nearly everyone he encounters, Borat soon makes it his mission to find and marry actress Pamela Anderson. Borat was originally created as a character for Baron Cohen’s Da Ali G Show.

Despite the arguably crude humor of Borat, the mockumentary received major accolades following its release. Baron Cohen’s performance earned him a Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and the film also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 79th Academy Awards.

The Borat sequel is said to be eying a release date just before the U.S. Presidential election on November 3rd, 2020, in hopes of persuading young voters to cast their ballots.
