When players dive into Rust, the main goal is to simply survive in a harsh wilderness, managing their thirst, health, hunger, and surviving against animals and other human players. While that remains the objective today nearly seven years after launching into Early Access, the new Sunburn Pack DLC will give players some much needed rest and relaxation, and it is available right now for purchase.
Players will have access to a broad range of summer-themed items, starting with an above ground pool and paddling pool to take a break among the survival horror of daily life. Float around in an Inner Tube, featuring seven distinct skins, and soak up some sun. Other players can destroy your time off with the use of a water pistol and a water gun that looks almost exactly like a Super Soaker but is not for legal reasons.
A Beach Towel will also be available with seven distinct skins, and once laid down on the island will serve as a respawn point, adding function to style. In terms of cosmetics, players will also have their default underwear replaced by four Swimwear themed skins for both male and female characters. Sunglasses can also be worn and will come in eight unique styles. Lastly, a Beach Recliner, Beach Parasol, Table, and Boogie Board will also come with several skins to choose from.
With all these new skins to enjoy, the next step is to document your summer fun with friends by using the Instant Camera included in the DLC. The developer states that the camera can take up to 30 photos, which can then be customized with written message to share with other players as Notes. These photos can also be placed into one of three frames included in the DLC and painted as though they were signs.
For players looking to catch up on other DLC, everything released up to this point is currently on sale for upwards of 50% off its normal price. While today is the last day of the Steam summer sale, it is not clear if the prices will revert back to their normal amounts, but this is unlikely since the Sunburn Pack DLC only released today.
Best of luck to everyone, we hope you are not too distracted with the summer fun that you forget to keep your characters alive!
