Hit survival game Rust tasks you with navigating a vast open world. It requires you to fulfill your basic needs such as warmth, food, and water. This game is based on the time after the apocalypse, forcing you to face the wild animals and deathly radiation. However, you aren’t alone. You can form alliances with other online players and work together.

Solo players and alliances need to base to call home. It’s survival of the fittest in the world but it doesn’t mean you can’t spruce your base up. Items are available to use or just display in your base.

10 Skull Fire Pit

In the second half of October 2019, Rust started their annual Halloween event. They hosted Trick or Treat events and added new in-game items. Some examples include a strobe light and a skull door knocker. They also released costumes and a Mummy around the world to attack players.

This image posted on Imgur by wagwan222 shows the skull fire pit and scarecrow. The Skull Fire Pit was amongst the Halloween release, putting a spooky twist on the default campfire. It is useable for warmth and for cooking food. This pit is the perfect way to scare off your enemies. To be able to craft the item, you need to buy the item from the item shop.

9 Wooden Signs

Wooden signs are easily crafted and available in four different sizes. These can be used to write or draw anything. Rust has an in-game drawing feature that allows players to draw whatever they want on the signs, which can be attached to structures to add your own unique element to your base.

The editor allows the player to create whatever they want with no limits. The amazing painting above this was posted by Dielerorn on Reddit. It illustrates Starry Night and shows that these signs are perfect for a player to put any type of art in their base.

8 Vending Machine

One way for players to earn resources is to sell them through vending machines. They allow players to sell their items to other people, with resources being the most common method of payment for certain items, such as wood. The players fill it with the items they want to sell and set their own prices.

This would be beneficial to your base not only to help get resources, but to add some appeal as well. One example is a ‘Base Invaders’ skin, based on the infamous game Space Invaders. This would be a great decor item to add to your base to make it look badass to other players. You can buy different skins for the vending machine here.

7 Rustigé Eggs

Fabergé eggs are some of the most expensive items in the world with people still hunting for the rest of the eggs that went missing during the French Revolution. Each egg has a unique center. In Rust, however, they can be crafted using a simple blueprint and high-quality metal.

There are four types of Rustigé (see what they did there?) eggs in Rust, with two of them shown above. Each one plays a song once opened and has a depiction of one of the map’s monuments inside. For example, the red egg opens to reveal the Dome monument. The eggs are a great recreation of the map and would cause quite a bit of damage thrown at a raider (oops). They would be the perfect decor to show off your wealth, and they’re just stunning. You can buy the blueprint for one of the eggs here.

6 The Instruments Pack

The Instrument Pack was released on Steam in 2019 as an add-on to the game. It contained 10 different types of instruments, for example, a jerry can guitar. They are all playable and allow you to use a variety of notes to play actual songs! A reviewer named Eeriedot on Steam said “Being able to play megalovania in the middle of a raid makes this DLC completely worth it.”

This pack creates unlimited fun for players and great decor for players who are real-life musicians. The instruments can be displayed for performances and you can make your own Rust band! This would be perfect to display your love for music and your post-apocalypse creativity.

5 Chippy Arcade Game

The game Chippy was created by the same people that made Rust, Facepunch Studios. Chippy is a pixel-art shooter game. It is well received with 91% of their reviews being positive on Steam. This decor item transforms the PC game into an arcade game form.

This item is essential to your base — you can actually play the 8-Bit version of Chippy in-game on the arcade machine. Having an arcade game in a base would not only be a great time-waster but an homage to the company. Also, you can keep track of high scores so you can have a competition between your fellow players.

4 You Spin Me Right Round

Spinning Wheels are used in multiple different ways — casino games, a chore wheel, even prize wheels. Rust is a hit amongst Twitch streamers and YouTubers. Therefore, roleplay is common and this wheel helps them through certain scenarios.

This wheel would be good, yet helpful decor for the base. You and your fellow players can follow user wannabemixer on Reddit, who used the wheel above to help decide who gathered which resource in their clan. They can be used for a variety of different roleplays, as they can be painted with anything you want!

3 Instant Camera Photos

In July of 2020, Rust released the Sunburn Pack in celebration of summer. This included new outfits, an above-ground pool, water pistols, and more, but, most importantly, the instant camera. This camera allows you to take pictures, including a zoom feature. Also featured in this pack were three sizes of photo frames, which these pictures could be placed in.

The ability to photograph in Rust can immortalize memories made around the map. The base can be decorated with group pictures, sunsets, and your adventures. Covering the base with in-game photos is one of the best decorative items you could choose.

2 Neon Lights

On the Steam store, there is a five-pack of neon signs available. They can come as either a regular neon sign or an animated version in three sizes, small, medium, and large. The animated signs, however, only come in medium and large. These signs can be drawn on with multiple different colors to play around with.

The signs can be used to display all types of designs like this one by user junglizzzt, shown above, on Reddit. The animated signs can flash between different designs, giving a flashy look to your base. Many players have become creative with these signs so there is plenty of inspiration to get your base looking cool.

1 Target Practice

Rust is a game where shooting your target is essential. There’s nothing worse than being in a fight and you keep missing shots. Being raided is another issue because you not only have to protect yourself but others and your base. Therefore, it’s imperative that practice takes place. Practice makes perfect, after all.

The reactive target is perfect for this purpose and helps your clan improve your shooting skills. This decor item shows your enemies that you mean business. It simulates shots by sparking when you hit it, like a player, and it’ll fall when it takes too much damage. There is also an alternative skin available that looks like a player.
