Another possibility is that the listing is for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, or maybe even a Square Enix game that has yet to be announced. Considering how specific the listing was, there’s a strong possibility that we will have a much better idea which Square Enix game is aiming for a May 15, 2020 release date come Monday.

If it is Marvel’s Avengers that’s releasing on Friday May 15, 2020, then it could clear up some other information that’s been rumored about the game. Namely, the rumor that Marvel’s Avengers is coming to PS5 and the next Xbox instead of current-generation consoles. If the game is releasing on May 15, 2020, then it seems as though it will in fact be out for current-gen instead of next-gen consoles, and depending on its success, could end up being a cross-generational game.

Of course, we haven’t even seen Marvel’s Avengers in action yet, and there’s not much we know definitively about the game. An E3 Coliseum listing confirmed Marvel’s Avengers will have 4-player co-op and hero customization, but there’s not much else we know about the game beyond that.

Hopefully Square Enix’s E3 2019 presentation includes a deep dive into Marvel’s Avengers, so fans have a better idea as to whether or not the leaked May 15, 2020 release date is realistic.

Marvel’s Avengers is in development for unspecified platforms.
