A recent Elden Ring data mining effort may have revealed some details about what the game’s upcoming DLC expansion will entail. Elden Ring launched earlier this year to widespread critical acclaim, but many have already wrapped up their adventures in the Lands Between. Many Elden Ring fans are looking for an excuse to return to the game, and are hoping that a DLC announcement is imminent. FromSoftware has yet to announce any official Elden Ring DLC, but based on the studio’s previous work, one is likely on the way.

FromSoftware has continuously released updates for Elden Ring since launching the game, fixing bugs, making changes based on fan feedback, and in some cases, even adding new characters and quest lines. Elden Ring updates have helped extend the game’s life cycle, but they can only go so far. A proper Elden Ring DLC would be the shot in the arm the game needs to jump back to relevancy, though it remains to be seen when fans can expect to see it and what it might have in store.

A data miner known as Sekiro Dubi on Twitter has been digging through the Elden Ring update 1.07 files and has found some interesting things that might point to DLC content. It’s been discovered that there is room for potentially 30 DLC bosses in Elden Ring, but fans shouldn’t count on that many bosses in the DLC. Sekiro Dubi has stressed that this just means that 30 slots have been reserved for potential DLC bosses, not that there will actually be 30 bosses in the Elden Ring DLC.

Other findings include new weapon categories, new dungeons, and the mysterious Elden Ring coliseums finally being put to use. It’s long been rumored that Elden Ring DLC will have a PvP focus and let players battle it out in the inaccessible arenas, though it’s unclear if that’s what they will actually be used for. The theory has also been posited that these arenas will be used for Elden Ring players to fight powerful AI-controlled enemies, but again, that’s just speculation.

Nothing official has been announced at the time of this writing, and so fans should take this information with a grain of salt. It’s entirely possible that there will be no Elden Ring DLC and this information will amount to nothing. That being said, fans may want to tune in to The Game Awards 2022 on December 8 just in case there’s a reveal, as Elden Ring announcements have been made at Geoff Keighley-hosted shows in the past.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
