Call of Duty: Modern Warfare features quite a bit of content for fans of the long-running first-person shooter franchise to sink their teeth into. This includes a campaign mode, the standard Call of Duty multiplayer experience, Spec Ops co-op, the Warzone battle royale, and the large-scale multiplayer battles found in the Ground War mode. Now, if rumors are to be believed, Ground War fans can look forward to the mode returning in the upcoming Call of Duty 2020.
This rumor stems from TheGamingRevolution, a YouTube channel that has accurately leaked Call of Duty news in the past. According to TheGamingRevolution, Call of Duty 2020 will feature 32v32 player battles, just like in Modern Warfare, and one of the maps is a “huge ice map.” If TheGamingRevolution’s information is accurate, Call of Duty 2020 players will be able to traverse this ice map using vehicles like snowmobiles and tanks.
TheGamingRevolution goes on in his latest video to describe the Call of Duty 2020 Ground War map in more detail. The map will supposedly be a three-lane map, similar to Treyarch’s smaller maps, with one side having a forest, the center made up of a frozen lake, and then the opposite side featuring bunkers and a train or train station.
Whether or not there’s any truth to these claims remains to be seen. TheGamingRevolution has been an accurate source for Call of Duty franchise leaks in the past, but it’s always possible that they have some unreliable information. Like any leak, fans should wait for an official reveal before getting too excited.
As for when a Call of Duty 2020 reveal will take place, that remains to be seen. The general consensus seems to be that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal will happen alongside the PS5 game reveal event, which was originally scheduled for June 4. The Black Lives Matter protests all over the world have seen Sony delay the PS5 game reveal event as to not distract from the movement, so it remains to be seen when that or the Call of Duty 2020 reveal will take place.
While no new PS5 game reveal date has been set, it seems like a safe bet that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal will still take place at some point in June. Fans of the franchise will just need to stay tuned for more information.
