Hours away from Sunday night’s Bethesda @ E3 press conference, a prominent leaker has revealed what may be two big new IP announcements planned for the event. The two new games are titled Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop. The leaker offers no further details about either game, simply adding, “You’ll have to see what these are for yourselves.” That said, the leaker, known both as Sabi and PolarPanda, has a reliable track record and a confirmed source within Nintendo of America.

Given that the leaker offers no supporting evidence for the leaks and is typically not associated with Bethesda information, this news should be considered a hard rumor. That said, it has since been confirmed that ZeniMax, publisher Bethesda’s parent company, has registered a trademark for Deathloop. There’s at least some provable credibility to this leak.

As for what Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop may be, there seems to be a lot of persuasive speculation that these are going to be games from Arkane Studios and Tango Gameworks. Arkane’s most recent game, Prey, was released in 2019 and its multiple-studio structure allows for it to make games surprisingly quickly. Tango Gameworks, run by the legendary Shinji Mikami, also wrapped up its most recent project in 2017. Mikami’s also been reported to have participated in Bethesda’s E3 rehearsals. What remains divisive is which studio could be making which game.

Deathloop sounds a lot like a horror game from Shinji Mikami, but Ghostwire Tokyo’s Japanese-influenced name also would fit with Tango Gameworks. On the other hand, for Arkane Ghostwire Tokyo seems more fitting. A cyberpunk or high-tech Tokyo brought to life by Arkane, perhaps with some Ghost in the Shell influence, sounds especially exciting. That may be way off base, though, since there’s nothing tangible to base speculation on.

Luckily for fans of Arkane, Tango Gameworks, and Bethesda the wait to find out if Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop are real is extremely short. The Bethesda @ E3 press conference airs tonight at 5:30 pm PT. And even if they aren’t and this is a false leak, it’s just a matter of time before both studios reveal what’s next. And the Bethesda E3 press conference will be exciting no matter what, with Doom Eternal, Wolfenstein: Youngblood and more already confirmed. Expect more news soon.
