Sony’s PlayStation 5 “The Future of Gaming” event has come and gone, and there’s been no word regarding Warner Bros. Montreal’s rumored Batman game. Fans are already looking toward the next major event for a potential announcement, but if a new rumor is to be believed, they may be waiting a while yet. The latest supposed leak claims that the new Batman game won’t be revealed until August. The announcement will be worth waiting for, however, as the new Batman game will also apparently be launching in November.

The rumor comes from Batman Youtuber KnightWing01, who claims that the “things that I’m hearing” are indicative of an August Batman game announcement and a November 2020 launch. KnightWing01 doesn’t say it with absolute certainty, but he does say that he, “wouldn’t put it past Warner Bros. doing that.” In other words, even for a rumor this isn’t particularly reliable. Nevertheless, there must be something to it if KnightWing01 felt like sharing what they’d heard.

KnightWing01 has previously leaked information about the Batman games before. For example, a leak from last year hinted that the new Batman game from WB Montreal would be named Batman: Arkham Legacy. It’s unclear if that’s still what KnightWing01 believes, however, and more recent rumors event hint that it’s something else entirely.

WB Montreal’s Batman project has about a million rumors surrounding it at this point. Many of them are for canceled projects and many are likely fake. The most recent rumor going around is that the new Batman game will serve as a launching point for a new DC Comics universe and isn’t directly connected to the Arkham series. It’ll then directly connect to Rocksteady’s in-development game, said to be a larger DC Comics universe or even a Justice League game.

As for when that game will be announced, it’s anyone’s guess. Warner Bros. Interactive has confirmed that it will take place in Geoff Keighley’s Summer of Gaming, but the Summer of Gaming branches several months and many, many different events. Going off of the August rumor, there’s a rumored PS5 event in August as well as an online Gamescom 2020 show.

Batman fans will, like they’ve done for months and years so far, have to continue waiting to find out exactly what WB Montreal is up to. But Batman news is hopefully coming in the next couple of months.
