Fans report that industry insiders have teased a possible announcement for the release of the next game in Atlus’ Persona series, Persona 6. The announcement would take place during the New Game Plus Expo, an online showcase presenting upcoming releases, on June 23.

With the recent release of Persona 5 Royal, the love for the series has seen a resurgence just as it did during the game’s original worldwide release in 2017. Atlus confirmed in October that it was working on plans for the franchise, including new numbered entries — so the release of Persona 6 is inevitable. If the rumors are true, the announcement is coming much sooner than expected.

The New Game Plus Expo would be a perfect platform for Atlus to announce the next game in the Persona series. There are additional rumors that a possible Persona 5 spinoff game will be announced, the release date for the expansion of Persona 5 Scramble will be revealed, and HD remakes of the first two installments in the series will be teased.

The prospect of Persona 6 coming soon is very exciting, especially since Atlus will want to take advantage of the momentum the series has going. If the next installment is released soon, its development will have been much faster than that of its predecessors, with Persona 5 taking seven years to complete. So while the news is exciting, Persona fans will have to wait until the New Game Plus Expo to see if they have something new to be excited about.
