Rogue Legacy 2, a sequel to the hit 2013 indie rogue-like platformer, has officially been announced after developer Cellar Door Games released a teaser image yesterday. The game was revealed to be “in development” on Twitter with some work in progress screenshots and a piece of haunting music.

While Cellar Door Games has not revealed much about the upcoming game in today’s series of tweets, the developers say they will be releasing “a lot more info in the coming days.” Based on what has been put out, fans of the original Rogue Legacy can see that its sequel will take on a more organic, hand-drawn look accompanying music by the original composer Judson Cowan, and sound effects by the team at A Shell in the Pit.

While Rogue Legacy is seven years old, it has seen support since the game was first released. For instance, it was re-released as a mobile game called Rogue Legacy: Wanderer Edition in 2019.

Fans of the original game, which received a stand-alone IndieBox full of collectible goods in December 2015, or Cellar Door Games’ other titles like Full Metal Furies should watch for more news coming out of the developers’ social media soon.

Rogue Legacy 2 is currently in development.
