Fans of first-person shooters in the style of Counter-Strike have had a bit of a moment recently with the introduction of Valorant, which introduced character ultimates abilities popular across other team games and gave a fun twist on the genre. If players were not particularly fond of Valorant or actually enjoyed it and just want more, then, fortunately, Hi-Rez Studios has a new title waiting for players.

Rogue Company is a new four vs. four third-person shooter published by Hi-Rez Studios, with similar gameplay mechanics to Valorant, only in a third-person view. There are more modes outside traditional one life bomb defuse/plant modes and game mechanics to help justify Rogue Company’s existence and not feel like a carbon copy of similar games.

Players interested in receiving access to this new title can easily gain do so as Rogue Company has exited its closed alpha, and is now in a closed beta. If players want to get immediate access, there are founder packs that are purchasable, which grant beta access. The price of these bundles starts low with a $14.99 (USD) starter edition, which comes with cosmetic items as well, then a $39.99  standard edition, and lastly, a $59.99 ultimate edition. Each founder pack has cosmetic items that players assume to be exclusive to founders, and the ultimate edition comes with some in-game currency.

Players that do not want to pay any money to play Rogue Company have two options. First, they can wait for the game’s official release as Rogue Company will be a free-to-play title, with microtransactions, upon official release, so there is no pressure to purchase the founder pack unless you want to support the game. The second option players have to save a buck is watch official Twitch streams and hope for a free twitch drop that grants you access to the beta.

Rogue Company has the potential to be another popular shooter that brings back some love to third-person shooters that have seemingly fallen to the wayside or live in the shadow of Gears of War. Rogue Company is also cross-platform across PC, Ps4, Xbox One, and even the Nintendo Switch. So if this game gets a following, the player base has the potential to be quite massive.
