After months of waiting, Grand Theft Auto 5 is about to release. We’ve already heard of retailers breaking street date, and Rockstar Games has been answering GTA5 frequently asked questions. While gamers endured a nearly two year long wait after the title was first announced, the developer kept busy mocking elements of religion, politics and pop culture in their promos.
Recently, we saw the sardonic take on Facebook called “LifeInvader,” and an exhaustive look at the television shows, radio stations, and ads that will be found in Los Santos. As is on full display with LifeInvader, Rockstar seems to have taken a particular aim at social media and technology for this outing.
The newest barb from Rockstar Games comes in the form of a new app called iFruit. Complete with the usual undercurrents of criticizing the decline of human civilization into empty, defeated, dysfunctional miscreants straight out of a Freudian nightmare, the description for iFruit lays out the purpose of the app in standard Rockstar Games flair:
iFruit hooks directly into your experience of Grand Theft Auto V with some fun activities to further postpone the need for real social interaction. Keep up-to-date on the latest Grand Theft Auto V news, log into the Rockstar Games Social Club, stay connected on LifeInvader and launch other Rockstar Games apps.
