It has been a full seven years since the release of the newest installment of Grand Theft Auto, and in that time, fans have patiently waited for the next game in the series. Though, there has yet to be any sort of concrete proof on when Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released. The only thing that fans know for sure is that the game is in development. However, new evidence has shown that the next game released by Rockstar Games will not be Grand Theft Auto 6.
Rockstar Games obviously carries a lot of clout within the gaming community. When Grand Theft Auto 5 first released, it became one of the most critically received video games of all time in a matter of weeks. The same can also be said of Red Dead Redemption 2, a game that is often hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time.
Though, now that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been released, most fans of Rockstar Games have come to the conclusion that the company’s next game has to be Grand Theft Auto 6, given how much time has passed since the release of Grand Theft Auto 5. Though, according to a new leak, that, unfortunately, seems less likely to be the case.
One fan has found the LinkedIn page for one Sarah Overend, an animator for Rockstar Games who has done previous work for Red Dead Redemption Online. On her LinkedIn page, Overend says that she is a gameplay and weapons animator currently working on Red Dead Redemption Online and a “TBA” title.
Again, it’s no secret that GTA 6 is currently in development, but it’s common for developers to be secretive about games, even if the game’s development comes as no surprise, so it’s possible that the game is simply GTA 6.
As of right now, there’s no way of knowing what’s actually next for Rockstar Games or GTA 6. As time goes on and as fans grow more impatient, GTA 6 is slowly but surely starting to achieve Half-Life 3 levels of infamy. Ultimately, the gaming community will just have to wait until Rockstar Games shows something of actual substance.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently in development with no release date confirmed.
