Psyonix announced a new Heatseeker mode for Rocket League. A huge number of people have been playing the vehicular sports game, and Psyonix confirmed that Rocket League has set a new peak player record as more people are in quarantine, playing video games at home.

With a new trailer, Pysonix revealed the Rocket League Heatseeker mode, which will make it much easier for players to score goals. Available for online matches from April 16 until April 20, the 3v3 player Heatseeker mode makes the ball “automatically seek the opposing net once it’s hit.” Balls hit backward will fire towards the player’s goal and the ball will gain speed when it hits the backboard or is hit by a player.

While the new Rocket League mode does sound like it could be difficult, Psyonix has confirmed that Heatseeker matches give the same amount of XP as a casual, competitive, or extra mode match. This means that players will be able to unlock tiers of the Rocket Pass at the normal rate. Psyonix has also said that players who log into Rocket League during the Heatseeker event will get a Hypnoteks Players Banner for free.

Rocket League fans seem excited about the mode and many seem to want it to be a longer event. The game has said several short events before like its Stranger Things crossover event at Halloween. but fans are asking that for this one, Psyonix will choose to make it available after the event has ended.

Rocket League is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
