If you’ve been wanting to dive into Rocket Arena’s madcap action but were never quite sure about taking the plunge, this is your chance. This coming weekend, the game will be free to play through Xbox’s Free Play Days program.
Now, Rocket Arena is quite a tough one to pin down. It’s got the frantic, silly action of Super Smash Bros., the tongue-in-cheek competitive blasting of Fortnite, the bold and bright shooting of Overwatch, the… well, that’s really the gist of it. Needless to say, if po-faced realistic shooters aren’t really your taste, Rocket Arena certainly could be. It’s a world away from all of that.
Final Strike Games’ frantic new TPS launched earlier this month, to rather modest fanfare. It’s visually appealing and a whole lot of fun, but was more than a little lacking in content out of the gate. With the right support from the devs and publishers Electronic Arts, though, it clearly has the potential to be something great. They’ll simply need to capitalize on it.
As the Xbox team has announced on Twitter, Free Play Days features Rocket Arena this coming weekend, the perfect opportunity to spread the word and get everyone in on the manic 3v3 action:
If you’d been debating it, it really could be the perfect time to hop on board. After all, as you can see above, Season 1 is just getting underway. You know what that means: a wealth of new content (something the game sorely needs). Of course, there’s new gear to collect, with over 30 different outfits and a total of 117 different rewards to hoover up. New maps to compete on and the usual time-limited events are also a given.
The major addition for existing fans is the new playable character, Flux. Armed with homing cat-shaped rockets dubbed Rockats and the ability to evade opponents by shifting between dimensions, she’s going to be one tricky (and adorable) customer. If all of this sounds tempting, then Xbox owners will want to take Microsoft up on their offer and check out Rocket Arena for free this weekend. Enjoy those Free Play Days and see what you think of the game!
