The first new playable character, Flux, has been added to Rocket Arena, and is quickly becoming popular in lobbies and matches. Flux has a great backstory, coming from Propulsion Prep, and is taking a break from her scientific studies to try out her inventions in the field. Science is always better when applying inventions to rockets and hurtling them towards enemies. In the video below, Flux gameplay is shown on Hypersonic Heights demonstrating this young inventor in action.
Flux’s primary ability is the adorably named Rockats, which provides three guided and bouncing rockets. These things track down enemies in a rainbow fueled trajectory of goodness. Don’t forget to reload often. Her secondary lets our heroine utilize her latest invention, the Black Hole Cat. This attack creates a black hole that grows larger and stronger the more rockets it absorbs on the way to the enemy. Finally, her special ability transports Flux into the Fluxverse, which is a tremendous getaway tool, health regeneration aide, and ability cooldown assistant. Just don’t click too quickly lest you be transported back into the action prematurely.
Below, we highlight the three best builds for Flux, including a jumping build, a speed build, and an all-around build.
Jumping Build
Flux is incredibly fun to play, but her jumping leaves something to be desired. Here, a little more height gives Flux significantly greater agility in the arena, and an ability to get into and out of the action a little more safely. First, as with most jump builds, put on the Axial Fan to increase jump strength. No jump build is complete without also applying Berno’s Belt for the jump height increase. Finally, for a pure jump build we would recommend the Juking Jukebox, though, most players would skip the slight jump strength buff to opt for a health regen or special ability cooldown buff from the Bastion Bell or Crystal Crown, also known as a yellow, yellow, blue build or yellow, yellow, green.
First Artifact - Axial Fan - Jump strength increased by 30%
Second Artifact - Berno’s Belt - Ground jump height increased by 30%
Third Artifact - Juking Jukebox - Jump strength increased 10% when moving same direction
Speed Build
Flux is not fast. She does skip around with ease, and it is adorable to watch, but her Rockats do not have a super long-range, requiring her to get up close to maximize her effectiveness. This doesn’t work as well as it could with her default speed settings, however, artifacts can clean the molasses right out of her step. First, the Gemstone Elixir buffs her movement speed directly, a must even if you skip the rest of the build. Equipping the Boost Capacitator complements this build with a similar air movement speed buff. The Zephyr Vest adds a pure movement speed buff to arena returns, however, many may opt for Bastion Bell or Crystal Crown to speed up health regen or her Fluxverse ability recharge.
First Artifact - Gemstone Elixir - Ground movement speed increased 15%
Second Artifact - Boost Capacitor - Air movement speed increased by 10%
Third Artifact - Zephyr Vest - Move 40% faster after arena returns for 6 seconds
All-Around Build
Flux is best equipped by using discretion to maximize playstyle and complement her abilities. Below, we suggest her best loadout for most game modes and maps. First, if Flux’s speed has got you down, consider a Gemstone Elixir or Axial Fan. For our build, we choose the Reef Buoy to speed up the Fluxverse cooldown, which is her prime getaway tool. Second, we choose Berno’s Belt to get a little more height per leap. An alternate consideration would be the Supercavitator, but if selected, Axial Fan or Gemstone Elixir would be a much better choice for the first artifact. Finally, for durability in the arena, the Bastion Bell decreases the time until the Blast Meter regen begins by up to 50%.
First Artifact - Reef Buoy - Taking damage reduces special ability cooldown up to 20%
Third Artifact - Bastion Bell - KOs decrease the time until Blast Meter regen starts up to 50%
With the above builds, embrace your inner prep school nerd, and hit the arena armed with science and cats. And rainbows.
