Quirky tower-defense/action platformer Rock of Ages III has rolled off course a little from its originally intended June 2 release. Now planned for July 21 on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Stadia, the delay comes down to issues related to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In a press release, publisher Modus Games said, “Due to current events, Rock of Ages III will be launching seven weeks later than originally announced. We regret having to make fans wait, but we want to make sure the final release meets the expectations of our players.”
While sad, it isn’t all too surprising that Rock of Ages is getting delayed. A lot of publishers (even major Triple-A ones) have pushed titles back in the wake of work-from-home restrictions. With the developers likely not able to meet in person, it is wiser to delay the title than rush it out for release.
As far as content goes, nothing is being removed or added. This will be the same game as originally promised, just delayed by a month and a half. If that extra time allows Rock of Ages III to be the best game it can be, then that’s a worthy trade-off. We can just pump out some Def Leppard in the meantime.
