A role-playing video game, otherwise known as an RPG, is popular among gamers as it allows them to escape reality. It could send them to some distant land, give them a destiny to fulfill, or even provide an alternate present reality in which they can live out their lives. Luckily, Roblox has plenty of these to choose from, but some are so good they deserve their own gaming platform.
These RPGs focus on a variety of topics, so there is something for everyone to enjoy. Some are free and some are paid access, but all of these Roblox games will provide you with hours of fun!

Some of these games are currently running summer events, too, so if you play you should probably play soon.
20 RPG World
RPG World is a classic Roblox game, as in it was first released way back in 2019. With a few hundred players active at any time, although the original game has been replaced by a second version, it’s the first game that remains popular.
The game is simple: kill monsters, level up, get better gear. It’s simple RPG fun that could be expanded on if the developers keep adding new items to the game. RPG World received its last update a few months ago, but there might be more on the way. Worth checking out if you like RPGs.
19 Legend RPG 2
Legend RPG has been visited over 11 million times and received over 130,000 favorites during that time. Originally released back in 2019, this RPG game received its last update a couple of months ago. Don’t worry though, there is a lot to do in this game!
Destroy enemies, clear dungeons, level up, and get your hands on powerful new gear. The game takes a lot of inspiration from various anime and manga, including One Piece, Fire Force, Attack on Titan, and much, much more. Half the fun is discovering what sort of characters are in the game.
18 Vesteria
Vesteria is one of the best Roblox games ever released. That’s not an exaggeration. The world design is absolute class, and the range of monsters, characters, items, and gear, make it one of the deeper RPG games on this list. There are some parts of it that cost Robux (real money) but you can still download and play through some of the game for free.
Not only is the game full of characters and things to do, but Vesteria also receives regular updates. Its most recent update dropped new EXP rewards, changes and tweaks to the parties system, and some upgraded spells. It also receives semi-regular World updates with new places to explore.
17 Spellbound RPG
Although Spellbound RPG is not the most popular RPG game on Roblox, it is one of the most highly rated. There is a lot of detail in this game and the world design is great. The main aim is to defeat monsters, level up, collect gear, and generally become the most powerful wizard.
At the time of writing, the game has over 1.3 million visits and close to 20,000 favorites. Spellbound is regularly updated, and only came out earlier this year, hence why some people probably haven’t found it yet. Go check it out, it’s a lot of fun.
16 Knight Simulator
Knight Simulator is a huge RPG game: there are over 200 weapons to collect and close to 100 different armor sets available. The game is also undergoing a summer event with a bunch of limited-time gear and a brand new map to explore.
The game was previously called “Limitless RPG” and was originally released back in 2020. Since then, it has accrued close to three million unique hits and almost 50,000 favorites. The game regularly has around 400-500 players playing. Definitely worth checking out while the summer event runs.
15 Fantastic Frontier
Fantastic Frontier puts the world in your hands as you set out to explore various islands. You must fight a variety of monsters and collect items in order to progress in this adventure RPG.
It places you in a unique role and the design of the landscape alone is a reason why many players choose this game.
14 Animatronic World!
The game called Animatronic World! Gives you the option to enter a world similar to that of Five Nights at Freddy’s. You can be a Nightguard, a simple human, or an animatronic character.
You can even make your own if the ones available are not up to your standards, which is why so many players adore this game.
13 RPG Simulator
Astral Studios has created a game called RPG Simulator where you can play with friends to defeat monsters and upgrade your character. You can give yourself accessories, swords, and even a pet.
There are so many realms to explore and each one has so much to do that you will never grow bored of this popular RPG.
12 RoCitizens
You become a whole new you in RoCitizens as you take part in a world dependent upon your actions. It allows you to accept a job, complete quests for the locals, and it even has a crime system in place.
No matter what path you take there is something for everyone, even those who choose to be Slenders, as it can even just be used as a place to socialize or let out your creativity as you furnish your home.
11 Sundown Island
You will exist as a wolf in Sundown Island, as this is a place where no humans exist, but that doesn’t mean it’s totally safe. The wolf you call your own is customizable and there are plenty of monsters to battle while here.
It has been visited almost 20 million times, so it is safe to say that this game will be a homerun for any player who enjoys RPGs.
10 Nomrial Legends
This game is very advanced in terms of Roblox experiences. It has mythical weapons, monsters, and even various maps to explore. It will take you on a fantasy-based adventure that will have you playing for hours. It’s not unlike a Skyrim or Dragon Age; it’s just on a smaller scale.
This game has been visited millions of times and is currently in the process of being reworked. So fans can expect big things from this RPG and more to come as the developers continue to make it even better than before.
9 Warrior Cats: Ultimate Edition [BETA]
You might be wondering how a beta could be amazing, but it is turning into an RPG that should have its own platform. It will cost you 35 Robux, but who wouldn’t pay that to live the life of a feral cat in a clan of other kitties? At the very least, it will get people hyped for the upcoming PS5 game called Stray.
In Warrior Cats, there are up to 50 cats in a single server. It is fun to band together with your clanmates and explore the landscape as you do your best to survive.
8 Backpacking
If you were wondering if Roblox had any open-world RPGs, then the answer to your question is a resounding yes. You can pretty much do whatever you want as you explore new areas and set up camp when you feel like it in this Roblox RPG.
Backpacking even lets you cook food, play in a pool, and kayak down rivers. Even if you’re still stuck inside, you can have an outdoor adventure all the same.
7 Horse World
Horses are majestic creatures and this Roblox game should have its own platform for this reason. It is free-to-play and sets you in a world ruled by horses which might seem strange but it’s actually pretty cool. Everyone can indulge their inner horse-girl here.
The game gives you the option of going on this adventure as your Roblox character or as a horse of your choosing. The game includes fantasy elements, the option to help your fellow horses or let the humans take over by domesticating the horses one by one.
6 Swordburst 2
This game features an expansive world where you must defeat enemies and collect items to progress. There are new areas around every turn, but in order to unlock them, you have to beat the boss before it.
The player gets equipped with a sword that you can use to take down a variety of enemies. Like Torchlight or Diablo, this is one game that is definitely better when you have a group of friends to play with.
5 Clear Skies Over Milwaukee
This is an RPG set in the 1990s and it is made to look like the player is in the center of a movie, but it is not solely story-based like other games. There are plenty of secrets hidden around Milwaukee, as well as things to do. Moreover, there are roles to play as you discover what part you are to play in the game.
You can shoot weapons or watch arrests go down as the crime in the city is the center point of this game. Think of it as something between Fargo, Twin Peaks, and Grand Theft Auto.
4 Anomic
Anomic is an open-world RPG that might be better than Skyrim and it places you in Nevada in the early 1990s. Being in the desert, there is not much around, so it is up to you to figure out how to earn money in order to support yourself in this world.
The player has tons of options in this scenario. One could become a sheriff, a trucker, run a shop, or head to the canyons and make money illegally. There are so many ways to play and so many places to explore which is why this game has such great reviews from players.
3 Portal Heroes
Portal Heroes has you fighting monsters and recruiting other heroes to help you in your venture, as you do in some of the best paid access games. You jump through portals, wield a sword, collect coins, and so much more as you progress through the challenges.
It will provide you with hours of fun and it is one game that would be even better if it was on its own gaming platform. Could a Roblox-style World of Warcraft game be around the corner?
2 Infinity RPG
Infinity RPG focuses on a grind mentality as you complete fights to level up and become the best in all of the realms. It is expansive as there are more than 70 sets of armor and 50 worlds to explore. That’s sure to take you hours on end to complete.
As addicting as roguelike games can be, a roguelike with RPG elements takes it to the next level. You won’t be able to stop once you start as you do your best to claw your way to the top and defeat even the hardest bosses in the game.
1 Neverland Lagoon
Fans of Peter Pan will appreciate this game as players create their own characters, fly around the map, and morph into different creatures. The game is whatever you make it as you work to collect gold and uncover all of its hidden secrets.
You can even journey under the water as a mermaid if you so please, and it is the perfect game to plug in your favorite music ID codes. This level of flexibility is what makes this RPG something that fans want to come to consoles, as well.
