Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness is the latest Netflix docuseries that tells a wild tale of exotic animals and insane events surrounding animal traders and zookeepers. The series mainly follows Joe Exotic, the former zookeeper who is now serving 22 years for animal abuse and murder-for-hire. The series has become so popular that multiple actors have been talking about playing Joe Exotic in a movie or TV show.
The latest name who wants to play Exotic is the actor, Rob Lowe. Lowe is a Golden Globe winner for his work on West Wing, and played Chris Traeger in the hit comedy Parks and Rec. Lowe has teamed up with screenwriter Ryan Murphy, who has written for Glee and American Horror Story.
Rob Lowe announced the project on Instagram by posting a picture of himself wearing a camouflage hat and Exotic’s signature mullet. Many actors have cosplayed as Joe Exotic and fans have poured in requests for their favorite actor to play Exotic. Lowe does not exactly match the physical description of Exotic and has played many characters that are the complete opposite of Exotic’s personality, but Lowe seems to be up to the challenge.
Tiger King has generated so much attention that the story is being retold and elaborated on by other parties besides Netflix. Robe Lowe and Ryan Murphy may join in the retelling but talks of the project are in very early stages.
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness the original docu-series is out now exclusively on Netflix.
