If you followed Part 10 of our Resident Evil 8 walkthrough, you have just fought through the ruins and you’re entering the Stronghold. Save your progress at the typewriter and ready your weapons as we continue our trek towards Heisenberg’s factory.
Head up the stairs and take a left through the room. You’ll find yourself in the werewolves’ den, one of the most difficult fights in the game. As soon as you’re attacked, run back to the corridor you walked down to enter the den and pull out your sniper rifle for some easy kills. The enemies will keep coming here, so as soon as there’s an opening, head back into the den and start making your way to the other side.
When there’s an opening, follow the path along to the right and then head left towards the pillar. There’s no way to talk you through each enemy step by step because they keep pouring in and it’s different for each playthrough, but just make use of your entire arsenal to keep them back, swapping to the right gun for the range. If you have mines, place them to cover your back.

Scuffle in the Stronghold
Drop down into the area below and make use of the red barrels to get some easy kills. Loot all the ammo, throwables, and crafting materials from down here and then take the stairs. Take a left at the top and go straight ahead, ignoring the wooden walkway on your left.
Climb the stairs at the end and turn around to see the werewolves jumping across to you. Wait for them to get across and then use the red barrel to take them all down in one shot. As soon as you’ve shot the barrel, take the zipline. Head up the stairs on your right, take another right and cross the wide, wooden walkway. Take a left at the end of the walkway and head straight on and up the stairs. You’ll be attacked by more werewolves, as well as a big lad. Take a couple of shots and run back the way you came, placing a mine or two as you go. Stand your ground and take them out, then continue on and back up the stairs where the big guy appeared and head through the door.
Grab the Gunpowder and Magnum Ammo from on your left in the room and then take the winding stairs down, grab the Metal Scrap on your way, and bust open the box for some Sniper Rifle Ammo. There’s also a Goat of Warding right at the bottom. Take the path to the left, opposite where the Goat of Warding was. Squeeze through the gap at the end. Make sure you grab all the items in the small room on the other side, save your game at the typewriter, and then press on.
A Hairy Encounter
When you drop down at the end of the cave, you’ll be in a boss fight with the big hairy lad from the beginning of the game. Use the time as you land to run around the room grabbing as many of the items as you can before he attacks.
He’ll start the encounter by jumping down with his hammer and slamming the ground. This attack is easy to avoid - simply sprint in a straight line across the room and he’ll miss. As soon as he does, capitalise on the moment and fill him with lead. Don’t be afraid to use your big guns here - the magnum and grenade launcher are your most effective weapons against him. He certainly does not like being shot in the face with the magnum. No, sir. When you’ve caused enough damage, he’ll jump up top again and some werewolves will join the fray. Focus on the werewolves and scoop up any crafting materials they drop.
When the big lad is on the floor, simply sprint as far away from him as you can while still keeping a clear sightline to him. Stop at the other end of the room, plant your feet, and fill him with bullets. When he comes to attack, sprint to the other side and do it again. The fight plays out like this all the way through. It’s pretty easy, just don’t get greedy with your shots. Whenever he is close, run. Whenever werewolves join, take them out quickly. Whenever he’s at the top, sprint so you don’t get caught in the ground pound. Eventually, he’ll drop and you’ll get a Crystal Hammer from his corpse. Hoover up any items left in the area and then leave through the door in the corner, heading into a crystalline cave.
Don’t run straight through this cave - there are some goodies in here. If you look around carefully, you will see some sparkles coming off the crystals. Shoot the sparkles and each will drop you a valuable item to sell at The Duke. When you’re done, exit the cave and head downstairs. You’ll find some breakable boxes with some ammo inside at the bottom. Grab that and then head towards the television to get the Torso Flask from off the table. After the cutscene, head through the door and down the stairs. Grab Guglielmo’s Plate from the bottom of the stairs and then get in the boat. Take the boat through the dark tunnel, following the lights, then disembark at the end.
Take the corridor on the left, close to the ladder, and head down the stairs. Make your way through the dungeon here and grab all the items, including the Photo of a Phantom Fish. Once you’ve got everything, head back the way you came, but be careful - some zombies will attack you.
RE8 - W870 TAC Foregrip
Head up the ladder and you’ll find yourself in the Graveyard in the village hub. Now head back to the Altar where The Duke is and take the opportunity to sell your valuables and upgrade your arsenal. Once you’ve done that, interact with the altar and place all of your flasks inside. The altar will become a key item called the Giant’s Chalice. The torches around you will light the way, so follow them through the gate on the West. In one of the side rooms here, off Lone Road, you’ll find a small, locked container. Use Luiza’s Key to open it and you’ll get Cesare’s Goblet.
Continue West towards the Ceremony Site, but first, take a right to the drawbridge and use your Crank on the mechanism. Get the Handgun Ammo from the box and then take the stairs on your left. Get into the boat and follow the river along to the West until you come to a pier where you can disembark. To the left you’ll find some fish to shoot, giving you two lots of Fish and one Finest Fish. On the opposite side, you’ll find a cave - head inside. In here you’ll find a bunch of explosives, an Antique Coin, some ammo, and the W870 TAC Foregrip. You’ll be attacked by zombies on the way out, so deal with them and head back to the boat.
Instead of heading straight back to where you came from, ride the river all the way to the opposite end. Disembark here and use your Crank on the bridge mechanism. Enter the hut and save your progress, and then use the Well Wheel on the well outside to raise a ladder. Climb down into the well. Down here you’ll find a locked door and some dropped spike traps. Make your way up by climbing the spike traps like steps. You’ll find a Pipe Bomb at the top and a terminal with a bunch of buttons - some lit up green and some white.
- Press both the white buttons and walk over to the left corner up top. Push the cart forward two times. Turn right and push the other cart forward so that it falls off. Drop down onto the cart you pushed off and climb up to where the breakable box is - smash it open for some Explosive Rounds and then drop down the hole ahead. You’ll find some Magnum Ammo, Flashbangs, and a Large Pigeon Blood Ruby down here. If you still have the Necklace With One Hole, this is the other gem for that - combine them together to create a very valuable item.
Once you’re done, unlock the door and exit the well. Cross the bridge near the boat and head up the stairs to the East. Go through the doors to the crypt and head down the stairs and through the next set of doors. You’ll enter a room lit up by a sconce. Here’s what to do:
- Shoot the sconce diagonally so that it flies up and lights the two torches in the corner of the room. Enter the door on the right to get some ammo from the breakable boxes, being careful of the zombies, and then go back into the room with the sconce. In the room opposite where the zombies spawn from, there’s a table full of Lei - grab that and go back to the room with the sconce. There’s only one room left now and it contains an unlit torch, but the swinging sconce can’t reach it. You see, there’s a reason the zombies keep spawning. You need to shoot the swinging sconce into a zombie, lighting it on fire, and then get the zombie to follow you through the next room to the unlit torch. The flames will catch and the room will light up. You can now grab the Golden Lady Statue from the back of the crypt. There’s also some Magnum Ammo on the back of the table.
Exit the crypt and head back to the boat. Sail the boat back to the middle dock and head to the Ceremony Site.
