We know little to nothing about Capcom’s upcoming title, which is currently labeled as Resident Evil 8: Village. With so much speculation surrounding the game, fans are just clamoring for as much information as they can get right now.

10 Similar Inventory Management To Resident Evil 4

One source supposedly claims that Resident Evil 8 will take a lot of influences from Resident Evil 4, with one of those being how the inventory management was set up. The inventory management for Resident Evil 4 is definitely different from what we’ve gotten in the other games in recent years. It allowed you to manipulate certain items to make them fit just right in your inventory. Perhaps these influences could lead to a remake of the fan-favorite game as well.

9 Armored Zombies

Zombies are rumored to make a return, but not in the way that we had anticipated. Instead, another influence from Resident Evil 4 is the zombie-like enemies. Rather than be your traditional zombies, these enemies will have armor protecting various parts of their bodies. Given that the setting is rumored to feature a castle section, this makes sense. Not only will they have armor, but they will also carry weapons that they can attack you with. This is very reminiscent of Resident Evil 4’s villagers.

8 Wolf-Type Enemies

Many rumors from many sources have one thing in common, and that is the suggestion of the inclusion of a couple of different enemy types, one being a wolf-type creature. This one is a little different from what we’ve seen recently. These wolf-type creatures could either take on a dog-like appearance or maybe a werewolf-themed aesthetic. There are also sources that suggest that another enemy will be a gorilla-like beastman equipped with chains and a staff.

7 Witch

Another enemy type that comes up in many leaks is a witch type enemy. This enemy is suggested to have a reoccurring presence in the game where she follows the player around, haunting and stalking them.

The witch is the alleged leader of the aforementioned beastmen and is unkillable, much like Mr. X from Resident Evil 2. It’s also been rumored that she will have a chilling laugh and if shot, she dissolves into a swarm of bugs. This is reminiscent of Marguerite Baker in Resident Evil 7.

6 Chris Redfield Returning

This one doesn’t seem as surprising given the fact that if this is a continuation of Resident Evil 7, Chris Redfield should be featured in the game. Though his role is unknown, it’s likely we’ll see him return in some capacity due to his appearance made at the end of Resident Evil 7. It’s been said that Capcom is also redesigning his looks to resemble his earlier appearance from previous games like Resident Evil 5, as opposed to the character model we got in Resident Evil 7.

5 Ethan Winters Is The Main Protagonist

While none of these have been confirmed, this one seems realistic. If this game is to take place after the events of Resident Evil 7, it’s safe to say that Ethan Winters’ story could continue in the next game. However, it seems like his character may get a little bit of an overhaul. Rather than his dry and bland personality in Resident Evil 7, it’s said that he will be more witty and sarcastic, making his character more appealing or likable.

4 First Person

All signs point to this game being in a first-person perspective rather than third-person like the last couple of games have been. As a continuation of Resident Evil 7, this only makes sense. While both perspectives are viable options, first-person seems more realistic as it’s a new experience and not a remake. This will surely heighten the immersion and make the game even more intense. This also leads into the next rumor.

3 VR Support

If the game really is in first-person like rumors suggest, the game will undoubtedly feature VR capabilities. With the success that Resident Evil 7 had with this feature, it seems likely that Capcom would capitalize and jump on this.

This was one of the best parts about Resident Evil 7 as it really made the player feel immersed in the experience and made it absolutely horrifying. Like anything though, this could just be rumor and speculation, but it would be great to see this feature return.

2 2021 Launch

Capcom has been on a roll lately; we’ve gotten a Resident Evil game 2 years in a row, and a new one on the way. Rumors suggest this game will follow suit and release only a year after the launch of Resident Evil 3. This pegs the launch date to be within the first few months of 2021. However, while this is the supposed intention, this could be subject to change due to everything going on in the world today as many titles keep getting delayed.

1 Cross-Platform, Cross-Gen

This rumor seems the most likely because the next generation of consoles is right around the corner. Why wouldn’t Capcom make a version of the game for each platform? Making the title accessible on every platform will give more people an incentive to buy a next-gen console to see what improvements the technology offers. Not only that, but Capcom will be making so much more money in the process. We can probably expect to see Resident Evil 8 on the next-gen consoles in 2021.
